Use the "2004 LandSat 7 ETM 3-4-5 Statewide Mosaic" dataset if the purpose is to provide a backdrop for other GIS data. Use this dataset if the purpose is to generate a state-wide image that retains the shape of the state. This image was compiled by PhotoScience, Inc. for the District. It uses bands 3, 4 and 5 to create a mosaic for the entire state of Florida, including a strip of ocean/gulf. It has 30-meter pixels, and looks very good for medium-scale mapping projects. The data in its present form is not useful for analysis, but the District does own the raw, unprocessed scenes (14 total scenes) for analytical purposes. These can be acquired from the GIS and Web Development Division. This data is available in the UTM Zone 17 North spatial reference system in order to preserve shape for large format graphics. |
