The South Florida Water Management District and the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) partnered to host the 2016 Water Conservation Expo and Vendor Fair on Feb. 19. This year's event focused on practices that agricultural operations can implement to reduce their water use.

More than 120 participants from the public and private sectors attended this year's Expo and Vendor Fair at SFWMD headquarters in West Palm Beach. The event also drew 15 vendors showcasing the latest water conservation hardware, technology and related items.
Participants attended a full day of informative sessions on topics such as the importance of conserving water in agricultural operations, research on water-saving methods and the types of assistance governmental organizations can provide. Speakers included representatives from the agricultural and nursery industries, the District, UF/IFAS, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the Palm Beach County Soil and Water Conservation District and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service.

WaterSIP – Water Savings Incentive Program

Thank you for your interest in the Water Savings Incentive Program (WaterSIP). The SFWMD Governing Board approved nine WaterSIP projects for Fiscal Year 2015. A list of the approved FY2015 projects can be found in the WaterSIP Project and Funding Summaries link below.

FY2015 was the final year that funding for water conservation projects was made available through WaterSIP. In its 13 years of existence, the program partially funded 181 projects with an estimated savings of 2.84 billion gallons of water per year.

Funding consideration for local projects that use water-saving hardware and technology is now incorporated into the water conservation component of the Cooperative Funding Program. For more details, visit www.sfwmd.gov/coopfunding.
