Thomas W. Olliff
Assistant Executive Director

Tom Olliff was named Assistant Executive Director effective June 1, 2005.

The Assistant Executive Director serves as the agency's Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for decision making in the Executive Director's absence. In this key position, he chairs the District Leadership Team which addresses the overarching management issues and strategies of the organization. In addition, he oversees day-to-day operations and provides direct support to the Governing Board.

Mr. Olliff initially joined the District as Director of Land Acquisition in August 2002 and was promoted to Assistant Deputy Executive Director for Land and West Coast Resources in May 2003. In these positions, he was responsible for overseeing the District's aggressive Land Acquisition Program, the Interim Land Management Program, Right of Way, Mitigation, and Land Stewardship.

From March 2004 -- May 2005, he served as Deputy Executive Director for Corporate Resources and was responsible for most of the internal business functions of the District including Finance and Administration, Budget, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Enterprise Project Management, Flight Operations, Emergency and Security, and Risk Management.

Mr. Olliff came to the District from Collier County where he most recently served as County Manager. In his nineteen year career with the County he served in a number of roles including Fleet Management Director, Purchasing Director, Capital Project Management Director, Community Development Administrator, and Public Services Administrator.

He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Palm Beach Atlantic College, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Florida.

Mr. Olliff is very active in the South Florida community beyond his responsibilities at the District. He serves in a number of different capacities for his local church and he is also involved with several civic organizations.
