Administrative/Support Personnel
In our Administrative positions at SFWMD, we look for people with strong attention to detail and customer service skills to provide support across all areas of the District. For the right person, this is a chance to build on key skills at an organization that mentors those with strong initiative.

Electronics
Electronics Specialists at SFWMD perform a broad range of work, including installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of new and existing automated systems. We consider our Specialists to be resident experts who can mentor others while growing in their own knowledge of Electronic Technology.

Engineering
Our Engineers play a hands-on, vital role in ensuring that the daily operations of the District run smoothly. Their duties cover a wide range of essential functions that involve the operation, management, and protection of water resources in the region by balancing and improving water quality, flood control, natural systems, and water supply.

Environmental Sciences
Our Environmental Scientists are an integral part of daily operations at the District, providing environmental oversight, which is at the core of what we do. By applying their knowledge of wetland science, ecology, and hydrology, they ensure that our mission to protect the water quality of central and southern Florida is carried out.

Geographic Information Systems
Working closely with our engineers and planners, our GIS team members make geographic information accessible and thereby play an essential role in our mission of protecting the water supply of central and southern Florida.

Information Technology
By providing real-time, mission-critical support to all areas of the District, our IT professionals gain a broad range of experience, while ensuring that our systems run smoothly on a day-to-day basis and that emergency issues are resolved quickly.

Management/Supervisory
Our Managers have a direct hand in ensuring that all projects at the District run smoothly and efficiently, while adhering to the District's mission and values of: excellence, team, communication, honesty, service, integrity, diversity, focus, adaptability, and enthusiasm. These values apply to all levels of work, whether it's project management, recruitment and retention of personnel, or establishing performance plans. For all Managers, the work they do is a chance to directly affect the outcome of water management throughout central and southern Florida.

Other Professional
There are many functions at the District that keep things running smoothly, enhance efficiency, and streamline operations. Whether it's systems auditing, inspection of construction projects, or payroll management, each plays a key part in the District's mission of protecting the water quality of central and southern Florida.

Planning
Planners at the District bring a wide range of experience to their work to ensure that projects such as desalination, water reuse, and planning for regional water availability are completed successfully and efficiently. Their background often includes knowledge of water policies and regulations in Florida, familiarity with utilities, and the ability to work with both internal and external resources.

Skilled Trade and Craft
With more than 1,900 miles of canals and levees and hundreds of water control structures that cover central Florida down to the Florida Keys, it is essential that our equipment and machinery are running smoothly. Our skilled tradesmen work daily in the field, ensuring that our boats are running smoothly, that our cranes our ready to do repair work, and that the growth of unwanted vegetation is kept in check.
