District Ombudsman

The District Ombudsman responds to inquiries, complaints or comments from permit applicants, permit holders, interested parties and citizens about District matters.

A long-time manager in public service and Florida's first female ombudsman at a water management district, Ms. Williams is particularly qualified for this role due to her public and private sector experience, her knowledge of the organization, her sensitivity to a diversity of issues, her outstanding ethical principles and her professional demeanor.

A District employee since 1989, Ms. Williams has been responsible for directing the development of policies and implementing programs to better serve external constituents in the areas of diversity, business development, compliance, water resources education and training.

In addition to and in recognition of her professional commitments, Ms. Williams has received appointments to numerous boards at the local, state and national levels including presidential and gubernatorial positions. She has served on the U.S. Department of Treasury Community Development Financial Institutes (CDFI) Fund Advisory Board. She also served two terms as chairman of the Palm Beach Community College (PBCC) Board of Trustees. She continues to serve on the PBCC Board and the Florida Earth Foundation Executive Board.

Ms. Williams holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida and additional professional training in government contracting and compliance, contract law, mediation, leadership, management, team building and facilitation. She is a member of the United States Ombudsman Association, International Ombudsman Association and the Association of Conflict Resolution.
