On Saturday, September 16th the SFWMD had a successful opening celebration for the Micco Landing Management Area, located at the trailhead on US Highway 98 in Basinger. Many local Kissimmee River Valley residents attended to hear SFWMD Director of Stewardship Fred Davis share some history of the land, on the progress of the Kissimmee River’s Restoration Project, and on the many recreational opportunities.
Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park Manager Charlie Brown and Micco Landing Manager Jeff McLemore lead swamp buggy tours to get a look at some of the 1,550-acre property and part of the restored Kissimmee River.
