Biscayne Bay is an ecosystem of approximately 428 square miles located on the southeastern coast of Florida in the vicinity of Miami-Dade County. The bay is an aquatic preserve and Outstanding Florida Water. Biscayne National Park, the largest marine park in the National Park system, occupies the central and southern portion of the bay.
The bay is ecologically significant, supporting diverse wildlife, including many endangered species. The adjacent urban population depends on the bay for navigation, recreation, and flood control.
