The South Florida Water Management District has identified Florida Bay as a priority water body for the development of a Minimum Flow and Level pursuant to section 373.042 Florida Statutes. The South Florida Water Management District staff has explored the relationships between freshwater flow, salinity, and ecosystem health and published its findings in a document titled "Technical Documentation to Support Development of Minimum Flows and Levels for Florida Bay". The staff's findings have been reviewed by a panel of independent scientists who have issued their recommendations regarding the science in support of administrative rule development. Please check the 'Meeting tab' for the latest upcoming events, and the 'Documents tab' for the latest reports and documents. A draft administrative rule is currently proposed for adoption.
