How Individuals Can Help

Growth Increases Demand

Because the region is one of the fastest growing in the nation, demand is expected to continue to grow. Within this region, every day, each person uses about 175 gallons of water! That's twice the national average. About half of that total is used outside the home, often wastefully, to maintain landscapes.

Practicing conservation as a "way of life" can help to avoid, or at least lessen the likelihood of future water shortages, and inconvenient restrictions. Many residents have already adopted this ethic of conservation, and with their partnership, together we are saving billions of gallons of water!

NEW WEB SITE: an educational web site on water conservation at www.savewaterFL.com that brings together a complete repository and action guide for all types of water users (from residents to businesses and government) to help everyone reduce their use.
