NW Fork of the Loxahatchee River & Tributaries

The Loxahatchee River and its upstream watershed are located along the Lower East Coast of Florida, within northern Palm Beach and southern Martin Counties. The Loxahatchee River and upstream floodplain are unique regional resources in several ways. The river has been often referred to as the "last free flowing river in southeast Florida". In 1985, the Northwest Fork of the Loxahatchee River was federally designated as Florida's first Wild and Scenic River. In addition, different portions of the River and estuary are also designated as an aquatic preserve, Outstanding Florida Waters and a state park.

This website and related reports documents the methods and technical criteria used by staff of the South Florida Water Management District to develop minimum flows and levels for the NW Fork of the Loxahatchee River and its Tributaries. Please click on the related link to find out more about the Loxahatchee River, the minimum flows and levels that have been developed for the River, project status, and reports that are available.
