Discussion: Dry conditions will prevail today with mid-level high pressure moving in from the Gulf of Mexico. Next, the area of high pressure will amplify and strengthen over the eastern US on Saturday, causing an upper-level trough over the western Atlantic to amplify as well. This will send a backdoor cold front southwestward into Florida, arriving along the upper east coast Saturday afternoon. Additionally, it will be quite breezy, with 15-20 mph easterly winds in some locations along the coast. Isolated to widely scattered showers along the frontal zone will be blown onshore the east coast on Saturday, with some locations along the extreme lower east coast potentially receiving up to 0.1” of area averaged rainfall. The frontal zone could stall out over Florida, resulting in additional light shower activity along the east coast through early next week. However, little rainfall is expected inland and away from the east coast. Much below normal total SFWMD rainfall is expected for the 7-day period ending next Friday morning.

Friday:  No rainfall expected. Winds ENE at 10-15 mph; 15-22 mph over Lake Okeechobee.

Saturday:  Isolated to widely scattered light showers possible along the east coast during the morning and afternoon. Little-to-no rainfall inland from the coast. Winds E at 15-20 mph; 20-25 mph over Lake Okeechobee.

Sunday:  Isolated to widely scattered light showers possible along the east coast. Winds E at 15-20 mph.

Monday:  Isolated light scattered showers possible along the lower east coast. Winds ESE at 10-15 mph.

Tuesday:  Isolated light showers possible along the lower east coast. Winds ESE at 10-15 mph.

Wednesday:  Isolated light showers possible along the lower east coast. Winds ESE at 10-15 mph (0.00”).

Thursday:  Isolated light showers possible along the lower east coast. Winds ESE at 5-10 mph (0.00”).
