Starting Point Notes

1. Only a few of the recently suggested new performance measures appear on the web page. Development of the new performance measures is proceeding and you should see the higher priority measures appear as they are completed.

2. A new preliminary version of the NSM has been developed and is used for the comparisons in many of the hydrologic performance measures. Information regarding this version of the NSM (preliminary v4.5) is available on the web page under the button: "Alternative Descriptions". As further analyses are performed, there may be slight modifications to establish the official version 4.5.

3. As part of the recent SFWMM calibration effort, new estimates of topography from the USGS were used for WCA-3B. The USGS topography is more than 1 foot lower than the previous estimate (circa 1960 USACE info). The SFWMM calibration of water levels at several monitoring locations is reasonable for WCA-3B, but the resulting ponding depths appear high. This will require further investigation. For the other regions of the SFWMM, the results of the baselines and starting point simulations are reasonable and can be used for the first evaluations.
