Hydroperiod Distribution

Hydroperiod distribution maps represent the spatial distribution of inundation classes on a cell by cell basis over the SFWMM domain. Hydroperiod distribution maps can represent individual years, averages over a group of wet or dry years or the average inundation distribution over the entire simulation period. Sixty-day inundation classes are used. Side-by-side two map comparisons allow the comparison of the hydroperiod distribution between alternatives, or comparisons of a particular alternative with that of the NSM.

Hydroperiod Matches

Hydroperiod matches/difference maps quantify the cell by cell differences in hydroperiods between particular alternatives and the target, facilitating comparison of different alternatives. For purposes of comparison with the NSM target, mean hydroperiods that are within 30 days of NSM hydroperiods are considered to match NSM values. Mean hydroperiods that are different by more than 30 days are quantified using hydroperiod difference classes. Single hydroperiod matches maps show the matches and differences between a particular alternative and its target, while side-by -side maps permit comparison of the matches between different alternatives.

Hydroperiod Improvement

The cell by cell hydroperiod improvement map compares alternatives to show which cells are improving toward the desired restoration goal. "Improvement" implies that the mean annual hydroperiod resulting from the alternative is "moving in the right direction". For example if the hydroperiod of the alternative is longer than that of the base to which it is compared, and is getting closer to that of the target (e.g. the NSM), the hydroperiod of the alternative is said to improve. "Worse" means that the hydroperiod resulting from the alternative is "moving in the wrong direction", e.g. if the hydroperiod of the alternative is shorter than that of the base simulation, and is getting farther from the NSM target, then the hydroperiod is said to get worse. "Overshoots" means that the hydroperiod resulting from the alternative is moving toward the NSM target, but goes past it.

Ponding Depths

Ponding maps show the spatial distribution of ponding for a range of ponding depths, represented by different ponding depth classes, on a cell by cell basis over the SFWMM domain. Average ponding depths can be generated for the period of record, annually, monthly or for selected years or months.

Ponding Differences

Ponding difference maps show the spatial distribution of ponding depth differences between the ponding depth of a particular alternative and that of the NSM, on a cell by cell basis over the SFWMM domain. Ponding depth difference maps can be generated for the period of record, annually, monthly or for selected years or months.
