Description:

LEC Service Area 3 includes the portion of Dade County east of Water Conservation Area 3B and Everglades National Park. The urban population of about 2 million in 1990 is expected to grow displacing some of the agriculture in southern Dade County. Citrus, winter vegetables and tropical fruit farming in south Dade currently make up the second largest agricultural area in South Florida. Water from this service area is supplied to the Florida Keys by the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority which has a wellfield near Florida City.

Stage hydrographs and stage duration curves relative to salt-water intrusion stages are given at structures S-26 on Canal C-6, S-25B on Canal C-4 and S-22 on the C-2 Canal. The percent of time and number of times that head-water levels at each of the structures fall below salt-water intrusion stages are quantified in separate performance measures.

Stage hydrographs and stage duration curves are given for the Model Lands represented by R8 C29.

Outflows from LEC Service Area 3 to Biscayne Bay are given in the Bays performance measures.
